“We are addicted to our thoughts. We cannot change anything if we cannot change our thinking.”
Do we ever pay attention to our thoughts? Do we all realize that the thoughts influence our personality? Thoughts are created through the information which we collect from our surroundings. In the morning when we open the newspaper, there is so much of information which we are not supposed to take in as the absorption rate of our brain is at its highest. As we take in the information, our thought process starts. For example, if we read a case of an accident, certain thoughts get created in our mind. All the thoughts we churn thereafter emit negative vibrations which deplete the power of our soul. The news of destruction, violence, abuse, corruption, suicides create certain vibrations of fear, tension, anger, hatred, insecurity within us. Suddenly we start feeling low.
Why we experience peace when we go to the temple? Why we feel low when we go for the funeral? The vibrations in the temple are positive as the thoughts created there are of peace, happiness, content, optimism etc. When we go for the funeral, we create the thoughts of uncertainty, insecurity, helplessness, pessimism etc. Researches have proved that mind affects our body. The thoughts are produced in the mind which are the result of information that we absorb. We just can't take in the information without involving our mind into it. As the information goes in, the related thoughts are produced which reduce the power of our spirit. As a result the quality of thoughts is degraded.
Suppose a person visits an astrologer & asks him about his future. If the astrologer says that after 2 years, there will be some mishap in your house. So please be alert. He comes home. Before going to an astrologer, he was totally in a different mood & now there is a vast deviation in his mood. The actual situation is going to arise after 2 years but just see what will be the quality of thoughts that he is going to create during this period? His soul power gets depleted day by day & when the situation actually comes, he is not in the condition to face it. The emotional stability one needs to face certain mishap is already lost in the meantime.
Emotionally unstable person gets wounded very easily as he is not in a position to take charge of his mind. If I get hurt because somebody says something to me means I allow that person to take charge of my mind. It is completely my choice whether to get hurt or not. We often get angry, upset for small things. Sometimes the situation is the cause of our anger or worry & sometimes people are the cause of our discomfort. As we are emotionally unstable from inside, we give the situation or the people the power to rule on us. Ultimately the situation or the people overpower us & the negative vibrations start ruling our mind. The soul battery gets very easily discharged.
It is written in Vedas & Upanishadas "as the food, so are the thoughts". This perspective can't be neglected. All animals are instinctive. The animal knows that it is going to be slaughtered. The vibrations the animal radiates at this time are of fear, anger, hatred. We not only consume the flesh but we consume these vibrations also which are harmful for our mental health. When a human being dies natural death, we all feel so much pain, sorrow for that person. But when the animal is slaughtered, we consume that dead thing with great joy & happiness. There is a lot of discrepancy in our thinking which needs to be observed. . . .
Checking of thoughts on the daily basis is a must thing that we all need to do. The situation & the people are not in our control. We can't anticipate anybody's behaviour. We can just focus on the quality of thoughts that we are going to produce & its consequences on our body. If a persons falls, the one who lifts him up should be capable enough to hold him firmly. So if we are emotionally internally stable then only we can tackle the adverse situation or critical people with great ease. Our quality of thoughts plays a significant role in dealing with the circumstances. We all should be aware of it & try to produce only those thoughts which would prove conducive for our emotional health..
